Parents, Families, & Supporters

Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) has been part of Spartan Nation for over 150 years, shaping generations of student leaders, scholars, and community builders. Today, more than 5,000 undergraduate students — about 13% of the student body — are members of one of MSU’s 56 fraternities and sororities.

Joining a fraternity or sorority offers students:

  • A values-based community of support

  • Leadership development and academic mentorship

  • Opportunities to serve through chapter philanthropies

  • Lifelong friendships and a sense of belonging

Michigan State's FSL community is made up of four governing councils:

  • Interfraternity Council (IFC) – 28 chapters

  • Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) – 9 chapters

  • National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) – 8 chapters

  • Panhellenic Council (PC) – 14 chapters

Our IFC & PC chapters traditionally have a chapter facility where students have the opportunity to live-in during their time as a member of the organization.
