Our Governing Councils
Fraternity and Sorority Life at Michigan State University is home to 56 chapters, representing four governing councils. Together, they create a vibrant community of over 5,000 students who are committed to leadership, personal growth, service, and lifelong friendship.

Whether you’re looking for a large chapter experience or a close-knit community, there’s a place for you in Fraternity and Sorority Life. Each council has its own unique history, culture, and recruitment process—explore them to find the fit that’s right for you.

Interfraternity Council (IFC)
Home to 28 fraternities, the IFC at Michigan State supports leadership development, academic excellence, and service.

Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)
MGC at Michigan State includes 8 culturally based fraternities and sororities that celebrate heritage and unity while promoting service, scholarship, and advocacy.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
NPHC at Michigan State is made up of 6 of the historically, but not exclusively African-American fraternities and sororities, known as the Divine Nine, with a focus on cultural pride, service, and advocacy.

Panhellenic Council (PC)
Representing 14 National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities, the PC at Michigan State fosters sisterhood, scholarship, and philanthropy in a supportive community.
