National Pan-Hellenic Council
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is made up of historically, but not exclusively African-American fraternities and sororities, each with a proud legacy of scholarship, service, leadership, and cultural significance. Membership in these organizations is a lifelong commitment, and the process to join is intentional and rooted in values.
Each NPHC organization conducts its own membership intake process, which may include informational meetings, interviews, and educational programming. While processes vary by chapter, here are a few steps to get started:
- Do your research: Learn about the history, mission, and values of each organization.
- Attend events: Come to NPHC programs, community service events, and campus forums to meet members and get involved.
- Show genuine interest: Build relationships with members and express your interest in learning more.
- Meet eligibility requirements: Each organization has specific academic and conduct standards—make sure you understand and meet them.
All students considering membership in a NPHC fraternity or sorority are required to attend the MGC & NPHC Interesting meeting as a condition of participation in membership intake.
